Kernel Hearts System Requirements
Steam’s PC spec sheet, plus what the demo will tell you that a table cannot.
Kernel Hearts on PC is a Windows 10 64-bit Unreal-looking action game with optional online co-op. Steam publishes a minimum aimed at 1080p Low/Medium and a recommended list a generation newer. Console players on PS5, Xbox Series, and Switch 2 can skip this page and go to Getting Started.
Figures below are from the Steam store spec block. Epic’s page has shown slightly different older CPU/GPU lines in some regions; if the two stores disagree, trust the store you are installing from, and then trust the demo more than either paragraph.
Steam minimum
- OS: Windows 10 or above, 64-bit
- CPU: Intel Core i7-9750H @ 2.60 GHz or equivalent
- RAM: 8 GB
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or equivalent
- Storage: 15 GB
- Notes: targets 1080p on Low/Medium. Performance may vary during online co-op.
The CPU line is a laptop hex-core from 2019. Desktop equivalents are more like older i5/i7 quad-to-hex chips. If your machine is an 8 GB laptop with a 1060 (or a 580/RX 580-class AMD card), expect to drop effects and still hitch when four players spawn particle soup.
Steam recommended
- OS: Windows 10 or above, 64-bit
- CPU: Intel Core i7-10700 / AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or equivalent
- RAM: 16 GB
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 / GTX 1660 Ti or equivalent
- Storage: 15 GB
This is the “I actually want to play co-op without becoming the host everyone blames” line. 8 GB RAM is legal at minimum and miserable if Chrome is open.
What the list does not say
- Steam Deck. Compatibility was still unknown on public trackers while the game was upcoming. Do not buy a Dock fantasy until Valve’s rating exists.
- VRam. A 1060 3 GB vs 6 GB is a real fork. If you have 3 GB, start on Low and do not host.
- SSD vs HDD. 15 GB will boot from a spinning disk and you will hate camera pans. Put it on an SSD.
- Internet. Online co-op needs a stable connection. The Tower does not pause because your router blinked.
- Console modes. No official “Switch 2 1080p / 60” sheet in the PC store block. Wait for launch capture.
Benchmark that actually matters
Install the demo. Run Folktale Fields until the difficulty bar is mid-range, then transform. If that scene holds 60, you are fine. If it dies when true form dumps an AoE, lower effects, not resolution first — you need to see telegraphs. Combat is unplayable if you cannot read a caster windup.
Four-player sessions are the second test. Steam already warns co-op varies. Host on the recommended box if you can.
Shopping advice for launch week
You do not need a 2026 flagship GPU for a $20-class anime action game. You need 16 GB RAM, a 1660 Ti / 2060-class or better, and an SSD. If you are below minimum, play on console SKUs instead of hoping a day-one patch invents frames.
Pair this page with controls (a 60 FPS game with a bad dodge bind still feels terrible) and release date for store choice.
